External

PAGB Competition

The Society will be submitting images for these competitions again this year. For this competition the judges only see the prints/images for a few seconds, so ideally the images should have high impact.

We need 30 prints and 30 digital images, 25 for each competition plus 5 reserves for tie breaks. Although we can use the same image for both competition the judges for both will be the same so we should do so sparingly if possible.

The digital images are the most important as these willl need to submitted to the competition hosts by Saturday 17th January - this means that images should be with the Competition Secretary by Wednesday 14th January. Prints should be submitted no later than 29th January.

There is no age limit on the prints/images but they should not have been used in the PAGB competition before. As last year was the first time we entered this will only rule out the 30 images we used last year.

General rules for each competition are that there should be a minimum 10 monochrome and 10 colour prints. The maximum number of images any one author can submit for each competition is 5. All those submitted must be titled. There can be no more than 5 Natural History images.

Prints

The maximum size of the print, including mount, is 20 x 16 inches (all mounts are to be made to this size). The minimum print size acceptable is 308sq.cm. (48sq.in.). This is equivalent to a 6" x 8" print but any dimensions may be used as long as the surface area of the print is no smaller than 308sq.cm. (48sq.in.). The final print / framing session for these will be the club night on 5th February.

Digital Images

These must be .jpg or jpeg type images using sRGB colourspace and they should use mode - RGB 8 bit/channel or Greyscale 8 bit/Channel (the default for most image processing software) They should have a resolution not exceeding 1400 x 1050 and saved at the maximum quality available (“12” in Photoshop). Higher resolutions can be e-mailed to the Competition Secretary who will resize as neccessary. For general information on image resizing please click here.

If you require any further information or clarification, please contact the Competition Secretary.
